Feeling Crunchy? Try This Shadow Work Tarot Spread.

When you’re doing earnest spiritual growth and shadow work, sometimes things can arise and make you feel crunchy. Recently, I have been doing some emotional work on an old memory that popped up and was affecting me. I created a shadow work Tarot spread to support myself through this. It might help you too!

What happened

While I won’t get into details, it was a very early childhood trauma (and just in case you’re wondering, I found myself needing extra supports, so I did access targeted professional assistance and it has been incredibly helpful).

So I did a check-in with myself on how I am feeling now that I have been processing and integrating healing with both professional assistance and my own suite of practices.

Here’s how it works

Instead of pulling cards at random, I sifted through the deck with the card faces down until it felt right, and then I turned the cards over and looked the few cards in that section of the deck.

The Five of Wands and the Page of Pentacles (in the Chakra Healing Tarot that I created) immediately stood out to me as resonating with where I am now.

Five of Wands

The Five of Wands reflects some of the internal disarray that was created when this old, buried wound finally felt safe enough to surface.

This is totally natural for old wounds to come up when you can genuinely process them and give yourself the healing and supports you need.

And it’s also natural that there is some reshuffling required.

The Heart chakra completely aligns with this experience also, as it was my heart centre where I noticed I was holding memories of this old wound.

Page of Pentacles

And then the Page of Pentacles points to what I am doing to help myself heal.

Reaching outside of myself – to professional and spiritual supports (hello, Crown chakra!) to help me step further into my healed power.

And to continue to reach for new opportunities and activities that bring me joy and fulfillment.

Although this points to a few things for me to do, the one that stands out strongest right now is to keep drawing and reclaiming artistic creation. (If you’re not sure what that’s about, check out this other post here and the follow up here about “stARTing again”).

Why I’m sharing this – plus, the free Tarot spread

I’m sharing this in case it’s helpful for you too to use Tarot as a check-in for how you’re doing and ways to support yourself.

In case it’s helpful, I’ve also created a spread so you can do the same check-in I did to support yourself if you’re feeling crunchy! I suggest you bookmark this page to save it for later. Never know when it could come in handy!
