Meet the Writer: Sounds

The eighth in a fifteen-part short series, Meet the Writer. These posts were originally written as part of a #meetthewriter challenge facilitated by author Beth Kempton.

I took today’s #meetthewriter challenge about words that I especially enjoy the sound of in a bit of a different direction. It actually came as a result of a question that my spouse asked when I started saying these words out loud.

As you can see below, I’ve incorporated the words that I most enjoy the sound of in this short piece about finding our power within, inspired and supported by our connection to the universe and our truest selves.

First, here are the words:

  • Archipelago
  • Presumption
  • Cogent
  • Glaze
  • Brontide
  • Crust
  • Lunation
  • Instinctual
  • Cathartic

And the piece:

The Crust of the Lunation creates its own Archipelago in the dark expanse overhead. The words of their Presumption echo through the cavity of my heart, and my inner wounds Glaze over to amass an Instinctual defense. Through the screaming silence, an initially small but Cogent propulsion expands organically and exponentially from within. I stand in the soft space now enveloping me in the Cathartic Brontide of my soul.
