For those of you who are newer to Tarot, I’ve created a few posts to share some simple how-tos on pulling Tarot cards. Today, I’m sharing a simple single-card pull.
Before you begin
The following instructions will appear at the start of each Tarot pull 101 how-to:
I always recommend that you do something to get into a focused, intentional state before slinging your cards. Some people take a few breaths, others set up protective energy circle around them, still others say a prayer, and yet others simply state (out loud or silently) their intention to receive wisdom from a place of highest vibration. Do whatever is right for you.
Simple single-card Tarot pull
This is an excellent and common go-to for a daily card pull.
Lots of folks who are learning Tarot like to pull a card in the morning and then revisit the card later in the day to see how it reflected what their day held.
How to do the pull
Step 1: You will shuffle your deck first, however you like to shuffle. And then, keeping the deck face-down, pull one card. You can pull the card off the top of the deck, or you can pull it from anywhere in the deck.
Trust yourself.
Personally, I usually pull from anywhere in the deck. What I do is that, after shuffling, I keep the deck face-down and go through the deck until I reach a card that just “feels right”. This is an excellent way to help you increase your trust in your own intuition, and I highly recommend it!
Even if you’re not sure whether you’ll know you have the right card or not, just go with it consistently, and over time, you’ll start to notice that you know exactly when you’re reached the right card!
Step 2: Set the rest of the deck aside. Turn over your card. Spend a moment noticing what pops up for you, and then it’s always a good idea to jot down your thoughts (and of course pull out the guidebook if it’s helpful for you!).
FOR EXPERIENCED TAROT FOLKS: Can you share in the comments, with the Tarot newbies, what that “right card” feeling is that you get? There’s such a variety of ways of knowing.
IF YOU TRY THIS: Tag me on Instagram at @chakra.healing.tarot or on Facebook. and let me know what your experience is like with it! Enjoy!!
